Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading. Since 1919, commemorative events have been held nationwide at schools, libraries, bookstores, homes — wherever young readers and books connect! In 2013, Official Events will be hosted in a record-breaking 50 cities, along with innumerable Local Events.
This year’s official Children’s Book Week poster is being designed by Caldecott and Children’s Choice Book Award-winner Brian Selznick, creator of The Invention of Hugo Cabret and Wonderstruck.
The 2013 Children’s Book Week bookmark will be created by author-illustrator Grace Lin, winner of the Newbery Honor for Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.
Children’s Book Week is administered by Every Child a Reader. The Children’s Book Council is a major donor to the foundation.
